1. Who are we?

sqnc is a trade name of a sole proprietorship registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.

2. What is sqnc?

sqnc provides a platform for production management and crew coordination for film and video productions. The platform consists of two products:

• sqnc.site — a paid studio environment for production companies
• sqnc.space — a free portfolio and availability platform for crew members

3. What data do we collect?

3.1 Account data

When creating an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Name (display name)
• Profile photo (optional)
• Password (stored encrypted, never readable by us)

3.2 Professional data

As a crew member or production company, you can optionally add:

• Role and specialization
• Day rate
• Portfolio (projects, videos, photos)
• Availability
• Contact details (phone, address)

3.3 Usage data

We collect anonymous usage statistics via Plausible Analytics. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. No data is shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

3.4 Communication data

When you use the platform for communication (such as sending callsheets or availability requests), the content and metadata of that communication is stored.

5. Who do we share your data with?

We only share your data with trusted service providers necessary for delivering our service:

Reading callsheets. When you upload a callsheet, we send the document to Anthropic to extract names, roles, phone numbers, email addresses and rates. This means information about people who may not have an sqnc account themselves is processed outside the EU. If you would rather not have a document read this way, you can enter crew details manually instead.

Importing contacts. You can connect your Google or Apple address book to bring your own contacts into sqnc. We only read the contacts you choose to import, we never write back to your address book, and you can disconnect at any time.

Shoot-day locations. When a shoot day has a location, we send the location text to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to find its map coordinates. That text is sent exactly as entered — including when it was imported from a callsheet — so it can contain a street address. Only the resulting coordinates (never the address itself) are then sent to Overpass API to find the nearest hospital and to Open-Meteo for the weather forecast. When you use address autocomplete, the address fragments you type are sent to Google Places.

Push notifications. If you enable notifications in the mobile app, we send your device's push token and the notification text (for example a call-time change or a new message) to Apple, so it can deliver the alert to your device. This is separate from and unrelated to reading your address book — see "Importing contacts" above.

Phone verification. If you choose to verify a phone number, we send that number and a one-time code to Twilio, so it can deliver the code by SMS or WhatsApp — whichever you pick. We never try one and silently switch to the other.

We never sell your data to third parties and do not use it for advertising purposes.

6. Your rights under GDPR

As a resident of the EU, you have the following rights:

• Right of access — You can request what data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification — You can have incorrect data corrected. Much of your data can be updated directly in your account settings.
• Right to erasure — You can have your account and all associated data deleted via Settings → Account → Delete account.
• Right to restriction — You can request that we restrict the processing of your data.
• Right to data portability — You can request an export of your data.
• Right to object — You can object to processing based on legitimate interest.
• Withdraw consent — If processing is based on consent (e.g. marketing emails), you can withdraw this at any time.

7. Profile visibility

You can control who can see your profile:

• Public — Visible to everyone, including non-logged-in visitors
• Platform — Visible to logged-in sqnc users
• Connections — Only visible to people you have worked with through the platform

The default setting is Connections. You can change this via Settings → Account → Visibility.

8. Security

We take the security of your data seriously:

• All data is stored and transmitted encrypted (TLS 1.3)
• Passwords are never stored in readable form
• Access to data is restricted via Row Level Security at the database level
• We conduct regular security audits

9. Cookies

sqnc uses minimal cookies necessary for the operation of the platform (session management and authentication). We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

Plausible Analytics, our statistics solution, does not use cookies.

10. Minors

Our platform is not directed at persons under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at hello@sqnc.studio.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. For significant changes, we will notify you by email or via a notification in the platform. The date of the last update is always shown at the top of this document.
